Ottawa, Ontario - Host: The Community Foundation of OttawaJuly 20, 2005It could easily be said that the best part of Vartana’s work is meeting with people from voluntary sector organizations across the country to talk about Vartana Bank. The Vartana team is always impressed at how engaged and ready to help people are. A recent meeting in Ottawa, hosted by the Community Foundation of Ottawa, reinforced this in a big way. The discussion at the meeting of more than twenty staff members and volunteers of local non-profits was lively and thoughtful. It was clear from the beginning that the room was packed with brainpower! Comments and feedback were supportive, pushed us forward in our thinking and reinforced our commitment to the important work of setting up Vartana Bank. As one participant suggested: "Good work, good stuff, keep going!!" Another gave a simple directive: "be successful." Overall, we (Jeff Pentland and Kirstin Beardsley) were very pleased with the meeting and hope to repeat the success with another group in Ottawa very soon. Thanks to the Community Foundation of Ottawa for hosting such a great event. |
